The peristaltic pump is the best solution for accurate fluid transfer. It is widely used for high-precision fluid metering and dosing. If the distance of transmission is at the same level, there is no loss. But if you extract water from a lower place from a higher place, you need to consider the peristaltic pump suction lift limit.
Why consider a peristaltic pump suction lift limit?
We all know that a peristaltic pump is a kind of precision instrument. It is used to transmit liquids with a certain precision. If the height of the transmission is very large, it may cause a certain loss to the liquid to be transported. We have tested and used an ordinary OEM peristaltic pump to suck water from a distance of 15 meters upstairs. The flow rate can reach about 80% of the horizontal transmission, which means that there will be a 20% loss.
Peristaltic Pump Suction Lift Limit
The suction lift of the peristaltic pump refers to the vertical height between the liquid level at the outlet of the fluid to be transported and the pump head of the peristaltic pump, also called "maximum self-priming height".The peristaltic pump has a strong self-priming ability, and the suction lift of peristaltic pump reach 8-10 meters, but if it exceeds 10 meters, the flow rate of the peristaltic pump will rapidly decay, and basically, it does not have the function of accurately measuring liquid. It can only be used on occasions that do not require accurate flow rates, such as liquid sampling.
The peristaltic pump relies on the elasticity of the hose to generate a vacuum, then utilizes the air pressure difference to transmit the liquid, so the suction lift has a great influence on the flow rate of the peristaltic pump, which directly determines t the air pressure. Then It affects the rebound of the hose. It has a great influence on the rebound speed. In the working of peristaltic pumps, if the stability of the flow rate is required, large fluctuations in the liquid level at the suction end should be avoided, because such fluctuations will directly affect the flow rate.
Of course, different peristaltic pump models use different motors, plus some different components, their suction strokes are also different. In a short distance, there is generally no loss. If the distance is long, it should be tested according to the actual situation.
In many cases, the peristaltic pump and the liquid to be transported are not in direct contact. Contact the peristaltic pump manufacturer as much as possible to ask for a suction stroke or a lift limit to ensure a certain accuracy of the liquid.
